2023-08-08 - Product Manager, Drone Pilot, Data Enthusiast, Chemical Engineer, a jack of all trades. On this site (https://productstories.podia.com/) I show my latest project.

2022-03-30 - Please wait until the weekend so I can update this with my recent project. I have some cool stuff to show you.

Pyspark and MongoDB (Python, NoSQL)

Goal: Using NoSQL databases

Learning to deploy and use map reduce with pyspark and MongoDB.

Digital Marketing (Python, SQL)

Goal: Gain insights into the effectiveness of the various direct-marketing channels

Using Postgresql & PgAdmin to analyze data from a multichannel with sales of several millions of dollars. The company has a network of retail stores, a well-established traditional catalog channel and a website. Its brand is very well known nationally and it has a strong positive reputation along with very good long term customer loyalty. The core of the company’s business consists of food products which are often purchased as gifts during the Christmas season.

On this this project, I worked on creating a database and loading the information to extracting recency, frequency, monetary (RFM) quantiles and calculate Customer Lifetime Value.

Retail Analytics (R)

Feature and Branding promotions of 3 beer brands

Goal: Analysis of the marketing promotions and sales forecasting

On this project I show how to apply the SCANPRO model and analyze two forecasting methods with a dataset from the Chicago’s Dominick’s website. The dataset consists of sales, branding, and prices of three different brands of beer over a four year period. This report will show how to evaluate the effectiveness of brand display and featuring, a common marketing problem, and demonstrate the opportunity of understanding that data. Additionally, it showcases the comparison of sales forecasting with a multiple regression model vs a neural network.

Dataset was obtained from https://www.chicagobooth.edu/research/kilts/datasets/dominicks

Melbourne Airbnb (R)

Crafted a story using data from Inside Airbnb

Goal: Create a business argument and communicate it visually

For our visualization module, we used R and the tidyverse package to wrangle data from Inside Airbnb. In cooperation with team members from the netherlands and china, we explored and analyzed the listings from the city of Melbourne, Australia. From our exploratory data analysis we built a recommendation guide for people that would like to travel to the city.

(I will upload the slides and code shortly) Meanwhile, to my embarrassment and your pleasure here is the video of our presentation:

(Fun fact: Until this project, I did not know "Down Under" refered to Australia and New Zealand.)

Heroku Deployment (Python, SQL)

Goal: Use Flask and Heroku to deploy a simple database

This tutorial shows how to deploy a simple database into production using open-source software and packages. It describes the procedure on how to set up and locally run a Flask environment, how to use git for adding files to a repository, and how to do a web deployment using Heroku.

Aerial Imagery in Agriculture (Drones)

Goal: Improve yields in agriculture through the use of imagery algorithms

Development of a drone program in agriculture using NDVI algorithms, RBG/Multisprectral cameras, and DJI drones.

Pax Romana Aeternum (CIV V)

Completed the hardest achievement of Civilization 5.

Goal: Defend the Eastern Roman Empire

"Win the game as Eastern or Western Rome on Deity and have all your original cities under your control in the Fall of Rome scenario." To this day, I'm still very proud of this achievement. Can you stop the barbarians from ransacking rome? Only ~0.001% of players were able to complete this challenge. (Civilization players will get a chuckle from this section)

Interests

My main topic of interest is a project that consists of using the different measurement of centralities across networks to identify susceptible individuals to specific qualities (e.g. smoking, obesity) and using precise ad targeting as a preventative measure to change people's behaviour or inclination towards that particular behaviour.

Besides that I like running, did a Half Marathon in 2020-May-02 under two hours. Comedy clubs, love going to the Top Secret comedy club and sit front row to get heckled. I used to take myself too seriously so the cure was to get ridiculed in front of a crowd. It worked! Also anything that has to do with drones, and drone cameras. I had a hexacopter that could lift from water and used it to track blue fin tuna in Baja California.
